If you are a
Public relations student you would know that the media is divided into different
types of media namely amongst the few
are new age media, electronic and print
media which includes your books, newspapers, magazines and the list goes on. The
media are the eyes and ears of society they feed us with knowledge and issues
happening globally. Francois Nell writes in the “writing for the media in
southern Africa” book that the media is a major source of definitions and that
it is a yardstick for deciding what is normal. Meaning that we as society
accept what the media dishes out to us without disputing it. It defines what is
normal, what we wear, how we speak and most sadly who we are. Which brings me
to the /my point about fashion, that it
is decided for us what is appropriate to wear what is not by the media or
rather through the media ,everyday we are bombarded with colours, styles and patterns that are in
for that season about what is appropriate to wear and what is fashionable. By the time one starts adapting to that style
than there is already a new one replacing that one. Personally I believe that
fashion is about culture, music, art, having fun with fabrics and colour and most
of all it is about a lifestyle. Individuals express themselves, their true
character through the fashion and clothes they wear.

Fashion is a huge aspect
in the 21st century, Nowadays your dressing style is a big deal it
is a deciding factor on the kind of “clique”
you associate yourself with and most of all fashion nowadays is the deciding
factor on whether one can be taken serious or not in society or amongst friends. People should start realising that
the media does not always have to set trends for them to be fashionable anyone
can set their own unique trend and own it!!!! Wear what makes you feel beautiful.
