How the media has helped fashion evolve over the years

Media and fashion have been around for generations from our grandparents, parents and up until now (our generation) and I must say it has taken all styles, colours, fabrics cuts and descriptions till today. Allow me to take you through the first existence in the media. Le Mercure Galant   was the first gazette to report on the fashion world it was founded in 1672 by Jean Donneau de Vise’. It covered the   essence of Style: How the French Invented Fashion, Style, Sophistication, and Glamour. The other was the Lady's Magazine a British fashion magazine which was a huge success and very influential. The first colour plates appeared in 1790. Published in London, monthly, and printed by GGJ and J Robinson.    

 

 Than a few followed such as the le Cabinet des Modes, Le Journal des Dames et des modes. During the period of our grandparents which was the 1950’s the fashion trend that was in and trending on the media was the pinup look rich fabrics which were really  colourful and dresses that were puffed up with a lot of lace . And we moved to the 1970’s during our parents’ generation where the hipsters and wide leg denims where in a trend that is coming back and followed again in the 21^st century. Then in  the 1990’s up until now the media has reinvented the old trends to a more  Morden  look that still has that old school touch and flare. We have the previladge to dig into our mothers  and grandmothers closets for vintage items such as turbans, coats and  highweisted skirts.
